# Transfer a domain

### Before you transfer

* Make sure the domain is **unlocked**.
* Get the **EPP/Auth code** from your current registrar.
* Confirm the registrant email can receive messages.
* Check you are not within a transfer lock period.

### During transfer

* Enter the domain + EPP code at checkout.
* Approve transfer emails if required.

### Avoid downtime

Keep current nameservers until you confirm DNS is correct at the new registrar.
